Searching for an answer to the point

Pierce vs. LeBron. Allen vs. Wade. Garnett vs. Bosh. Rondo vs. …?

The Celtics-Heat series has been a highly anticipated matchup, but who will be Miami’s answer to Rajon Rondo?

Mario Chalmers erupted for 20 points in Miami’s Game 5 series-clincher against the 76ers, but he had just 17 points in the first four games against Philadelphia. And Chalmers only averaged four points and 12.7 minutes in three games against Boston this season.

Miami’s starting point guard, Mike Bibby, was even less effective than Chalmers last series — scoring a total of 16 points in five games. And the veteran lacks the speed to keep up with the Celtics point guard.

So it seems Miami has no answer for the speedy 25-year-old. But the Heat were able to hold Rondo to just seven points and five assists in their last meeting — a 23-point Miami victory on April 10.

This series probably won’t come down to Chalmers or Bibby, but Miami’s team defense must be able to slow Rondo in order for the Heat to advance.
