Gag order issued in police rape case

A Baltimore Circuit Court judge has issued a gag order preventing attorneys involved in the rape cases of three city police officers from talking publicly about the cases.

Jemini Jones, 28, Steven Hatley, 27, and Brian Shaffer, 29, face rape, assault and misconduct charges stemming from a woman?s allegations that she had sex with Jones while in police custody, in order to gain her release. Trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 21.

The gag order, signed May 16 by Judge Allen L. Schwait, bans prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses? attorneys and others representing any of their offices, from commenting publicly to the media about the cases until they are resolved.
