Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the longtime Clinton ally who is considering a 2020 presidential bid, on Tuesday launched a “Victory Fund” to attack President Trump and Washington Republicans.
“We’ve seen what President Trump and Republicans in Washington are trying to do to our nation, and this is our chance to fight back,” said the fundraising announcement titled “Taking on Trump” and distrubuted by TerryMcAuliffe.com.
While the fund is meant to help Democrats win in the upcoming statewide elections, it is the latest move by McAuliffe to take Trump on in advance of a potential race against Trump’s reelection campaign.
In debuting the fund, McAuliffe focused on concerns about the repeal of Obamacare and how it would impact Virginians.
“Just last week we got the abysmal Congressional Budget Office score for the American Health Care Act, aka Trumpcare, which would doom millions of Americans. When Trumpcare is combined with Trump’s proposed budget, it’s crystal clear Virginians are at high risk from his reckless, extremist agenda,” it said.
