President Trump joked that he found the candidate to take down Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2020.
During the White House coronavirus briefing on Friday, Trump quipped that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, should move back to New York to run against the first-term liberal star.
“I have great respect for this group. In fact, I told Tony Fauci, I said, ‘Why don’t you move to New York, run against AOC. You will win easily.’ He decided he’s not going to do that,” Trump said, using an acronym for Ocasio-Cortez’s name.
“I kid, by the way, you know that,” he added.
