One U.S. service member has been killed, along with another coalition service member, after a roadside bomb attack in Syria Thursday, according to a report. Five others have been wounded.
A statement from the U.S. military announced the two deaths, but did give the nationality of either. The Associated Press, citing a U.S. defense official, said one of the dead was an American.
Those wounded were immediately cared for on scene and were evacuated for further medical treatment, according to a statement from Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve.
Further details of the incident are being withheld pending investigation, and the names of the deceased will be released at the discretion of relevant national authorities.
The Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve was established by the US-led international coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq.
