A Southeast D.C. man was killed when he was hit by a pickup truck in Forestville, according to Prince George’s County police.
Police said 23-year-old Dedrick A. Harvey was standing in a lane of the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when he was struck by a Ford F-150 that was changing lanes at about 9:45 p.m. Harvey was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The driver, a Lanham man whose name was not released, fled the scene, police said. Maryland State Police stopped and detained him about 20 minutes later near Walker Mill Road and Malboro Pike, after a description of the vehicle was broadcast.
Police said alcohol is not a factor in the crash. Police are continuing to investigate and the driver could face charges.
