Security Tight at National Spelling Bee

How do you spell S-E-C-U-R-I-T-Y ?

Sure, those spelling geniuses can spell “dangerously,” but do they live dangerously, too?

If you stopped by the Scripps National Spelling Bee last week, you may have noticed that, for the first time in the Bee’s history, attendees had to pass through metal detectors (and have their bags and purses examined, etc.).

Organizers said that, given the crazy state of world affairs in recent years, they’re simply trying to be “pro-active.”

Or maybe just keep those darn dictionaries out.
