Comedian Kathy Griffin on Tuesday labelled Trump “a moron and Nazi,” adding she was sorry on behalf of the U.S. for putting “this guy on everyone else’s lap.”
“I am going to call him a moron and Nazi. Americans are skittish about calling him a Nazi, but he is one,” Griffin told Australia’s Nine Network, according to local media. “There’s a Nazi in the Oval Office.”
Griffin, who is currently on the Australian leg of her “Laugh Your Head Off” world tour, implored Americans to “get rid of him soon” by making him a one-term president at the ballot box.
“These Trump folks self-identify as deplorable,” she continued. “They’re psychos. They’re nuts. I’m here to apologize. I’m sorry we have put this guy on everybody else’s lap.”
Griffin sparked outrage in May when she posed with a fake, severed Trump head in a promotional photograph. The move resulted in a federal investigation and caused her to lose a contract with CNN.
Griffin said the president and his sons “came after [her] super hard” in the ensuing controversy and she received death threats over the matter.
“They go on television saying, ‘We don’t want to hurt Kathy Griffin’s career, we want to decimate her’,” she said.
