Joe Theismann can’t wait for Friday to come.
That is when his new once-a-week radio program, “The Joe Theismann Show,” will debut (albeit out of its normal time slot) on Friday from 8-10 a.m. and originate from Redskins Park. The program will then move to its regular Monday spot, from 8-10 a.m., throughout the Redskins season. He will be joined in-studio by ESPN 980 AM host Kevin Sheehan.
The former Redskins star-turned-restauranteur and broadcaster, said doing radio was something that really appealed to him. Even though the show is during the NFL season, he’s not afraid of other topics.
Theismann on doing his new show on ESPN 980 » “I really can’t wait to talk to callers and to discuss all areas of sports in Washington again. I know the show is primarily a Redskins show but I am ready to talk college football, major league baseball or even high school sports. I want callers to know that any topic is welcome.”
Theismann on possibly taking the once-a-week show to a five-days-a-week program » “Right now we will see how things go. I have many business commitments that require me to do a great deal of travel. I want to do the best show possible and that requires time. So we will see how things go once a week for now and after the season we will take it from there. They have many talented people at ESPN 980 AM and I will also be heard on their shows, as well as on the Redskins pregame show.”
Theismann on Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell » “We are about to see Campbell 2.0. He spent last year working on his lower body. His footwork, his scrambling, his leg strength and he and [head] coach [Jim] Zorn are working on a quick release. Moving to get rid of the ball faster, but this season there are a couple of big things have to happen to make the Redskins offense successful. First they need to have a healthy offensive line. The last three Super Bowl winners have all had solid, healthy and athletic offensive lines. The Redskins can make that happen. They have the talent and the depth. The key will be consistency and the health of the line in front of Campbell.”
