Man gets probation for payment to tax collector

A Maryland men was sentenced to a year of probation and a $2,500 fine for paying a District tax collector to change a record, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. said.

Haadis Ketma, 45, paid a tax collector $4,000 in cash in January 2007 to erase a record of a tax liability of a business owned by Ketma’s brother. The new record would show that the business’ taxes were no longer outstanding.

Ketma pleaded guilty in August.
