Cheers & Jeers: Bimbo takes down Jones for first victory

Guests 3, Bimbo 1

Bimbo has a message for Orioles center fielder Adam Jones: stick to playing baseball. The Examiner’s pigskin-picking princess went 10-6 to easily defeat Jones, who went 5-11. Bimbo, however, just missed sweeping last week’s guests, as Marvin “Doc” Cheatham, the president of the Baltimore City NAACP, went an impressive 11-5.

This week, Bimbo, who is 25-22 picking games this season, will battle The Examiner’s brass — Michael Beatty, the Baltimore publisher, and Michael Phelps, the chief executive officer — as she looks to even her record against guests to 3-3.

Every banana helps Bimbo

Bimbo would love to hear from you. If you would like to send a letter or a care package — she loves papayas, apples, grapes, grilled cheese sandwiches and french fries and warm, snugly blankets. Please send all items to Colleen Layton-Robbins at Frisky’s Wildlife & Primate Sanctuary, 10790 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock, MD 21163.

It takes $300,000 a year to support Bimbo and her friends. If you would like to donate to Frisky’s Wildlife & Primate Sanctuary, a non-profit organization that provides refuge for needy and displaced animals, please go to www.friskys.org.

Oogie’s Corner

Oogie, Bimbo’s best friend, is lending a hand this season. Oogie will pick each Redskins game in hopes of inspiring the burgundy and gold. This week, Oogie predicts the Redskins will fall to 2-2 after losing to Tony Romo and Co.
