Rashida Tlaib admits she only wore mask at event because GOP ‘tracker’ was nearby

Rep. Rashida Tlaib was caught on camera admitting she was only wearing a mask because a “Republican tracker” was following her.

The Michigan Democrat was attending an event in Detroit featuring Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge when she made the remark to a maskless attendee. In the exchange, the attendee appears to believe Tlaib scolded him for not wearing a mask.

“Oh, no, oh, not you!” Tlaib clarifies to the man. “No, no, no — I’m just wearing it because I’ve got a Republican tracker here,” she said, gesturing to the person recording the exchange.

Tlaib faced criticism in August when she was caught without a mask at a wedding in Dearborn, Michigan. Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the time instructed face masks in indoor venues.

She had criticized Sen. Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, for encouraging people to resist the CDC’s guidelines in a video — one day before she was caught maskless in public.

“The KY Senator is throwing a tantrum as his state is being swallowed whole by this virus, again,” Tlaib tweeted. “People are getting sick and dying 98 counties in Kentucky have a high incidence rate of COVID-19. He needs to put politics aside, and put people first. Start resisting the virus.”
