The Pentagon is deploying six U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler aircraft to Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany to bolster its presence among NATO allies, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby announced.
Growler aircraft “specialize in flying electronic warfare missions, using a suite of jamming sensors to confuse enemy radars greatly aiding in the ability to conduct suppression of enemy air defense operations,” Kirby told reporters during a briefing on Monday. They are expected to arrive at Spangdahlem Air Base from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, on Monday.
