House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who was shot at a 2017 Republican baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., said he wished “both sides” would condemn violence regardless of victims’ political views, after a series of suspicious packages were sent this week to Democratic lawmakers and figures critical of Trump.
“This isn’t what America’s all about,” the Louisiana Republican said during a press conference in Houston on Thursday. “I’m disturbed by the fact that it’s happening over and over again. You know, the last few weeks, there have been violent attacks against elected officials based on their political views. I wish both sides would be speaking out about it when it happens on either side.”
