Teacher accused of inappropriate contact with student
A Prince William County high school instructor and coach has been arrested on charges of inappropriate communications with a female student.
Prince William County police said 28-year-old Richard Teller, a long-term substitute teacher and head baseball coach at Brentsville High School, had improper contact with a 17-year-old girl who attended the school.
The communications were by phone, said Officer Jonathan Perok, a police spokesman. Police would not further describe the messages.
No physical interactions took place between the two, authorities said. Police said the inappropriate calls began in February.
Man killed in Clinton crash
A man died in a vehicle collision Monday night in Clinton, police said.
A witness told police that a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo crossed the southbound lanes of traffic on Branch Avenue near Woodyard Road and then went back across them, striking a 2008 Toyota Corolla, at about 11 p.m. Maryland State Police said the Chevrolet then overturned and collided with trees, causing 23-year-old Jason Patten to be ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Toyota driver suffered minor injuries.
Manassas woman dies from crash injuries
A Manassas woman has died from injuries suffered in a crash at a restaurant parking lot.
Prince William County police said 36-year-old Rosa Marquez Lovo died Monday night after she was hit by a car in the parking lot of Pollo Campero at 7913 Sudley Road, at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Marquez Lovo was standing on a sidewalk when she was hit by a car driven by 37-year-old Maria Del Carmen Roca Perez, who hit the accelerator instead of the brake while making a turn.
Roca Perez has been charged with reckless driving and could face additional charges, according to Officer Jonathan Perok, a police spokesman.
