SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Wright Express Corp. announced Thursday that it would change its name to WEX Inc.
The company, which has been processing fuel payments for fleet vehicles since its founding in 1983, said the new name reflects its transformation to a company focused on physical, digital and virtual corporate card payment systems for businesses internationally.
Its operations include WEX Bank, Fleet One, Pacific Pride, Rapid PayCard and WrightExpress Prepaid Cards.
WEX has more than 350,000 customers worldwide and more than 1,300 employees.
The company will continue to be listed under the symbol WXS on the New York Stock Exchange.
Shares increased 96 cents, or 1 percent, to $72.14 in afternoon trading.
