CBS News’ Mark Knoller gets to the point

Knoller with former NBC News reporter Jeannie Ohm, back when there was peace among the networks.

From today’s White House briefing:

Mark Knoller: On a lighter note, can’t he get a hamburger in this building? (Laughter.)

Robert Gibbs: (Laughs.) That’s a good question. You know, I — look, I’ve tried to eat a little better the last few weeks. The    cheeseburgers are pretty good here. I would — I think I would be being untruthful to you if the president didn’t like just to sort of get out of the gate a little bit and be out. I know he misses, and has for some time, just the ability to walk around. And you can’t even now get into the hamburger place he went to the time before. So it’s — I think it’s a fun —

Knoller asked whether it would cynical to suggest the burger run “was done for the benefit of the NBC News crews” at the White House the past two days filming their big Obama special. NBC News’ Chuck Todd piped up with something inaudible, to which Gibbs replied, “All right boys, separate, separate” and “go to your corners.”
