Sweden rejects ‘offensive’ license plate: ‘TRUMP’

A man in Sweden was denied a vanity plate spelling out “TRUMP” because the motor vehicle department said it was “offensive.”

One of the largest newspapers in the country, the Aftonbladet tabloid, reported on Saturday that the man claimed he “was drunk and thought it was fun to apply” for the new license plate referencing President Trump because “the car is American.”

The Swedish Transport Agency does not approve letter combinations that make political statements. The agency’s decision cannot be appealed.

Trump’s name also was among the 53 license plate requests that were denied in Washington, D.C, last year. Some of them were: “45SHOLE,” “DUMP45,” and “TRE45SON.”

The D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles does not allow tags that refer to “race, religion, color, deity, ethnic heritage, gender, sexual orientation, disability status, or political affiliation.”
