Attorney General Jeff Sessions directed federal prosecutors late Wednesday to focus on the “most violent offenders” as part of a Justice Department crackdown on crime nationwide.

Sessions issue a memo to the department’s 94 U.S. Attorney’s offices to “use every tool we have” to fight crime, and to do so by working more closely with federal, state, local and tribal authorities to target the most violent offenders in each district.
