About 80,000 more Maryland residents are buckling up this year, according to findings released this week by the state’s highway department.
State officials attributed the increase to 93 percent use from last year’s 91 percent to enforcement blitzes and public-education campaigns. Maryland is one of many states that participate in the annually federally funded “Click It or Ticket Campaign,” which includes public service announcements and police checkpoints.
