Hillary Clinton hugs Cory Booker, shakes hands with Bernie Sanders in Selma

Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders were cordial in Selma, Ala., on Sunday during an appearance marking the 54th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

The former 2016 rivals shook hands after Sanders spoke at the Martin and Coretta Scott King Unity Breakfast in what was a notably less warm display than the big hug Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., got from Clinton after he addressed the crowd.

Clinton was present to receive the 2019 International Unity Award.

Clinton and Sanders’ lukewarm interaction came after Sanders told ABC’s “The View” last Friday it was unlikely he would seek campaign strategy advice from his ex-political foe.

“I suspect not,” he said. “Hillary … she has not called me.”

In a Politico report published earlier last week, former Clinton campaign staffers said Sanders often requested a private jet to travel to events while acting as a surrogate for Clinton ahead of the 2016 election.
