Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic challenger hoping to unseat Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) in November has stirred up quite the controversy with her claim that she is part Cherokee.
A recently formed political group, Cherokees Demand Truth from Elizabeth Warren, has called on Warren to either prove her Native American heritage or to stop making such claims.
The group plans to protest outside the Massachusetts Democratic Convention on June 2.
Warren has admitted that she had identified herself as Native American in the past, but claimed that in doing so she did not in any benefit at her teaching jobs as a result. Warren has been hired to teach at both the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard.
The Cherokee group was formed with the intent of informing people that Warren is not one of them, and that she needs to set the record straight:
