Fort Meade named second best post, wins $1 million

Fort Meade won second place in the annual Army Communities of Excellence competition, an honor that carries a $1 million award for the installation.

Brig. Gen. John Macdonald, deputy commanding general of installation management command, announced the award this week.

The program recognizes top installations that tackle performance issues and make improvements in the way they work with customers, partners and suppliers.

Fort Meade is “engaged in a process of continuous improvement, and the ACOE award indicates we are on the right track,” Installation Commander Col. Kenneth McCreedy said in a statement.
