Fairfax offers information in case of flu emergency

The world is not yet in the grips of a flu pandemic, but the Fairfax County Health Department hosted a meeting Tuesday night to explain its preparedness efforts, answer questions and unveil a Web site with updated information.

“This page is just another way we hope to better serve the residents and businesses of Fairfax County by ensuring that information is readily available about pandemic flu and how the county is preparing,” said Merni Fitzgerald, director of the Office of Public Affairs.

The meeting outlined details on the county’s planning process for pandemic flu, and the Web site contains helpful links, checklists and resources, county news releases on pandemic flu and information on how to stay healthy.

The Pandemic Flu Town Meeting will be aired at 8 p.m. Saturday and again April 26 on Channel 16 on Cox Cable. For information about the county’s pandemic flu planning initiative, contact the Fairfax County Health Department at 703-246-2411.
