Jay Leno suffers serious burns in car fire

Comedian Jay Leno is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after a fire erupted in his car garage.

“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am OK. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” he told Variety.

Leno, 72, was forced to cancel an appearance at a conference in Las Vegas Sunday night.

He was scheduled to speak at the Financial Brand conference, which touts itself as the “world’s leading digital publication in the retail banking space.”

In an email sent out by the conference to attendees, it did not specifically state why Leno couldn’t be there.

“His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling,” People reported. “All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.”

Fans have started posting well wishes on his most recent Instagram post.
