In a new poll from Gallup, only 51% of Americans say socialism would be a bad thing for the United States, with 43% believing it would be a good thing for the nation.
This is a stark difference from when Americans were polled about socialism in 1942, where 25% said socialism would good thing and 34% not having an opinion on it.
Broken down, 70% of Democrats say socialism would be a good thing, with 84 percent of Republicans saying socialism would be a bad thing.
Gallup’s poll comes as more members of Congress and presidential candidates are coming out in support of more socialist policies to solve issues such as climate change, income inequality, student debt, and free healthcare.
Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and consistently stays on message for socialist policies.
DC Consultants: “Hm, Medicare for All is an insanely popular proposal. Maybe we should try policies that guarantee healthcare to all people.”

It’s important to note that people shouldn’t be in a situation where they depend on a stranger’s enormous act of charity for this kind of liberation to begin with (aka college should be affordable), but it is an incredible act of community investment in this system as it is. ?
