New Grassley ad shows off his physical prowess

The deer is dead — or so we assume — but Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, is very much alive. And even at age 83, he’s probably in better shape than you are.

Grassley has a new ad out for his re-election, focusing on how hard he works.

The ad, narrated by his wife Barbara, begins with Grassley waking up at 4:00 a.m. to run three miles (he’s got me beat on both counts). Barbara then talks about how he meets with constituents in all 99 Iowa counties every year and was named the “hardest working senator” by The Hill in 2010.

Part of me wants to make fun of this ad because of the whole running thing, but it’s actually a welcome change from the usual attack ads.

It says, quite simply: I work hard for you.
