Gallup just posted a poll today showing that “large majority of Americans say spending too much money on unneeded or wasteful federal programs is to blame for the federal budget deficit.” Only 22% of Americans blamed “not raising enough money in taxes.” 73% blaming spending.
Looking at solutions, 48% preferred spending cuts (20% only spending cuts, 28% mostly spending cuts) compared to just 11% who fave tax hikes (9% mostly, 2% only). Gallup concludes:
I wonder how much Obama’s failed stimulus has affected these numbers. Gallup has not asked the question, but CNN, The Washington Post, and Rasmussen all have and the numbers are over whelming: somewhere between two-thirds and three-fourths of all Americans believe Obama’s trillion dollar stimulus was a waste of money.
