INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Republican pollster Frank Luntz warned Florida Republicans attending the GOP convention that voters are prepared to hand Donald Trump a loss.
“If the election were held today, Hillary Clinton wins,” Luntz said in response to a question from the Florida GOP delegation. “You want an honest answer, that’s an honest answer. Your state is going to determine who wins and who loses this campaign.”
Luntz urged the crowd to get out the vote in November and his cautionary message may have been aimed at motivating Republicans to get to the ballot box.
But Florida will likely serve as a swing state in the general election, and its U.S. Senate race could become competitive and play a role in deciding the balance of power in the upper chamber.
