Hot mic catches Pence and Netanyahu talking about someone ‘unstoppable’

A hot microphone captured a moment between Vice President Mike Pence and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that received attention Thursday after the video showed Pence referring to someone as “unstoppable.”

“We are contending. He’s unstoppable,” Pence can be heard responding to an inaudible question from Netanyahu, adding, “Like somebody else I know.”

The exchange, which took place at the World Holocaust Forum in Israel, sparked a mixed reaction online.

Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin referred to the video as “unctuous personified” while thousands of others expressed support for the comment and the two leaders.

Pence addressed the forum, which marked the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

“One cannot walk the grounds of Auschwitz without being overcome with emotion and grief,” Pence said. “One cannot see the piles of shoes, the gas chambers, the crematoriums, the lone boxcar facing the gate to the camp, and those grainy photographs of men, women, and children being sent to their deaths without asking: ‘How could they?’”
