Shots fired into Pentagon; no injuries

Shots were fired at the Pentagon early Tuesday morning, causing a temporary lockdown, but no one was injured.

Pentagon police said a civilian reported hearing shots at about 5 a.m. near the south side of the building. Officials told the Associated Press than an unoccupied part of the building was hit, but no injuries were reported.

The building was on lockdown for about half an hour. Part of Interstate 395 near the Defense Department headquarters was also temporarily closed while police investigated.
