The track work that Metro is planning for this coming weekend is slated to affect all lines on the Metrorail system, meaning delays throughout the system.
Metro plans to shut down a section of the Orange Line, replacing trains with free bus shuttles between East Falls Church and West Falls Church.
Then it plans to force trains to share a single track in segments on all other lines, including in two places on the Red and Blue lines. As usual, the work begins at 10 p.m. Friday and lasts through Sunday.
Here’s where to expect the delays from single tracking:
- Blue Line: Trains will take turns sharing a single track in two spots, between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road and between Van Dorn Street and Braddock Road.
- Red Line: Trains will take turns sharing a single track in two spots, as well, between Forest Glen and Takoma and between Van Ness and Friendship Heights.
- Green Line: Trains will take turns sharing a single track between College Park and Greenbelt.
- Yellow Line: Trains will take turns sharing a single track between Braddock Road and Huntington. The agency urges riders who are traveling north of Mount Vernon Square to switch to the Green Line.
