Top Five: Teams that may target Tebow

Now that the Broncos brought in Peyton Manning, what does this mean for Tim Tebow’s future? Here are five possible suitors:

5. Green Bay Packers » Obviously this would be in a backup role, which Tebow may have to settle for. With Matt Flynn signing with the Seahawks, the Packers need to find someone behind reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers.

4. San Francisco 49ers » Even though it looks like Alex Smith will re-sign with the NFC West champs, the 49ers would be a perfect fit for Tebow. The Heisman Trophy winner would excel in their run-first offense that emphasizes ball control and limiting turnovers. Only the Broncos had fewer pass attempts last season than the 49ers.

3. Cleveland Browns » In his first two years, Colt McCoy has a 74.5 passer rating. Bringing in Tebow means completely changing a team’s offensive game plan. But that wouldn’t be such a bad thing for the Browns, who finished 30th in points (13.6) and 29th in yards per game (288.8) last season.

2. Miami Dolphins » After letting Chad Henne go and being linked to Manning, Flynn, Smith and trading up in the draft for Robert Griffin III, the Dolphins signed veteran David Garrard to a one-year deal Monday. I don’t think the 34-yard-old quarterback who didn’t play last season was the offseason splash the Dolphins were looking for.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars » With Tebow being a local legend, this move would at least sell a few jerseys. And new ownership expressed interest in him in the past. The Jaguars signed Henne and drafted Blaine Gabbert with the No. 10 pick in last year’s draft, but the struggling franchise could use an attention-grabbing, ticket-selling move like this.
