Who: The New York City Board of Health
What: The board members, all of whom were appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, indicated their support for his ban on the sale of large sodas and even considered capping the size of popcorn servings and dairy products. “There are certainly milkshakes and milk-coffee beverages that have monstrous amounts of calories,” board member Dr. Joel Forman observed.
Why it’s dim: It’s not the government’s job to force people not to eat too much.
Cure: Stop nannying people.
