Sarah Sanders: ‘Pathetic’ for Congress to give Michael Cohen opportunity to spread ‘lies’

The White House tore into Michael Cohen on Tuesday before he embarks on three straight days of testimony before Congress.

With ABC News reporting the former lawyer to President Trump would publicly accuse Trump of potentially committing a crime while in office, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders cast him as a liar seeking to further his agenda.

“Disgraced felon Michael Cohen is going to prison for lying to Congress and making other false statements. Sadly, he will go before Congress this week and we can expect more of the same. It’s laughable that anyone would take a convicted liar like Cohen at his word, and pathetic to see him given yet another opportunity to spread his lies,” Sanders said.

Cohen is due to testify on Capitol Hill three times this week, including closed sessions before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday and the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday. His only public testimony will be before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.

Cohen is scheduled to begin a three-year prison sentence in May after he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including campaign finance violations and lying to Congress.
