Sparks fly off-camera at The View after Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain go head-to-head

ABC’s The View hosts Meghan McCain and Whoopi Goldberg were in a heated clash after a contentious on-air segment.

McCain, 35, “looked like she was ready to walk off the set” during the Thursday show, according to the Daily Mail. Things started to get fiery on-air after Goldberg attempted to compare Sen. Mitt Romney to McCain’s father, the late Sen. John McCain.

“You know what, I’m going to give faith in him like I gave to your dad,” Goldberg said about Romney’s independence for voting to remove President Trump from office.

“With all due respect, Mitt Romney is nothing like my dad,” McCain told the host. “I’m just saying, ‘Don’t put all your bets on Romney right now,'” the host added. “He will break your heart like he always does.”

Goldberg then said McCain was half her age. McCain called the comment “dismissive” before the show went to a break.

McCain then talked to a producer and paced back and forth, having a tense conversation. “There was definite tension on the set,” the source said. “Meghan seemed like she was reaching a breaking point during the confrontation with the producer.”

Goldberg, 64, and McCain have clashed before. In December, Goldberg told the host, “Girl, please stop talking,” after McCain complained that the other hosts did not care about conservative viewpoints.

Despite patching up their last fight, according to McCain, the source suggested she may leave the show soon. “It seemed like Meghan felt she was being attacked. I don’t think she’s going to last much longer,” the source said.

Abby Huntsman left the show last month after she was treated “like shit,” according to sources.
