Maybe Michelle Obama brought the childhood obesity epidemic to the front and center, but Rachael Ray has a lot to say about it, too. So much that she filled her Tuesday with talking, hopping from Senate office to Senate office, meeting with the likes of Sens. Debbie Stabenow, Dick Durbin, Bob Casey and Tom Harkin.
“Perhaps you can even come back and do some cooking?” Stabenow suggested, after the two talked fruits, veggies, lunch programs and general kiddie nutrition.
“I’ve taken the pots and pans on the road before,” Ray replied.
After a crammed day on Capitol Hill, Ray was headed to the White House, not to meet with the first lady, but instead to check out the Obamas’ vegetable garden.
“She’s championing the very thing we’ve been working on for years,” Ray told Yeas & Nays. “And I hope, fingers crossed, one of these days in the near future we’ll have the pleasure of spending a few minutes with each other.”
