At least 1 dead, 3 injured in shooting near Calif. voting location, reports say

One person is dead and three are wounded after a shooting near a polling place in southern California, according to the latest reports from the area.

The Los Angeles Times reported they were fired upon by at least one heavily-armed man who fired the shots near a voting location in Azusa. The town is about 30 miles from Los Angeles.

Police told CNN they were responding to the scene and a police officer was involved in the shooting. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter took multiple victims to the hospital.

It’s not clear if the shooting was related to voting in any way. The shooting did not happen in the polling location, but in a residence nearby.

Other details about the shooting were not immediately available Tuesday evening and police were still responding to the situation, calling it an active shooter situation.
