CLEVELAND — Fracking billionaire Harold Hamm said that developing oil is a “matter of national security,” and Donald Trump would help prevent terrorism by making the United States energy independent.
“Every time we can’t drill a well in America, terrorism is being funded!” Hamm said from the convention floor Wednesday night. “It’s been 15 years since 9/11. We can’t ignore this any longer. Climate change isn’t our biggest problem – it’s Islamic terrorism! Every onerous regulation puts American lives at risk. Developing America’s own oil supply is a matter of national security.”
According to reports, the Oklahoma oil and gas mogul is being considered by Trump to be serving as energy secretary. According to someone close to the campaign, Hamm is currently the top choice for the job.
Hamm made his fortune during the U.S. oil and gas drilling boom in the past the years, after tapping into a new hydraulic fracturing drilling technology in North Dakota shale fields. At age 70 he is now one of the wealthiest men in the United States.
“President Trump will fuel America’s future and become the first president to achieve American energy independence,” Hamm stated. “President Obama chose not to get it and has tried to destroy this renaissance and all of its benefits… Hillary Clinton promises more of the same.”
