Police in Brazil have arrested 10 people they say were planning acts of terrorism during this summer’s Olympics, which kick off in Rio de Janeiro on Aug. 5.
According to authorities, those arrested were not part of the Islamic State, but had tried to make contact with the terrorist group.
The 10 people were arrested in the southern state of Parana, and are all Brazilian, Justice Minister Alexandre Moraes said at a press conference on Thursday.
An emergency cabinet meeting has been called in the wake of the arrests.
