Hacked: Clinton chairman wished California shooter named ‘Chris’

It would have been better if one of the terrorists responsible for killing 14 people in San Bernardino, Calif., had been named “Christopher” instead of “Syed,” Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman said in an email.

“NBC News now reporting a US citizen named Sayeed [sic] Farouk believed to be one of the people involved in the shooting,” campaign aide Matt Ortega wrote in a Dec. 2, 2015, email to chairman John Podesta, referencing a tweet about the issue from MSNBC host Christopher Hayes.

“Better if a guy named Sayeed Farouk was reporting that a guy named Christopher Hayes was the shooter,” Podesta replied.

The emails were in reference to an attack that day perpetrated by Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik. Farook was an American citizen of Pakistani descent, while Malik was a permanent resident who had immigrated from Pakistan.

The exchange was included among more than 12,000 emails obtained from Podesta’s personal Gmail account and published by WikiLeaks this month.
