When President Obama was forced to cancel his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live for Wednesday night, the comedian was a good sport about it. (He understood that fundraisers do come first on the presidential calendar, after all.)
He got back at the president in a particularly pointed monologue, however.
Kimmel introduced Obama’s visit to Los Angeles this week by joking that that president was in town “to make everyone late for Yogalates.” Many of LA’s major streets were shut down to ensure security for the presidential motorcade (indeed, the streets were impregnable). While Kimmel said that delays didn’t affect him since he roller-skated to work, the visit was a commuting nightmare for many other residents.
“A good way to ensure that your approval rating remains in the low 40s is to see to it that it takes three and a half hours for everyone to get home from work,” Kimmel said.
If that’s not direct enough, Kimmel further likened the president to a college student.
“He’s here in town to go to fundraisers, where he will spend the evening pretending to care about what celebrities think,” Kimmel said. “I feel like the president only comes to LA for money. He’s like a college student who comes home to do laundry and steal food from the refrigerator.”
Sounds like the comedian is a little miffed that Obama found begging for money more important than attending his show. To watch the full monologue, click below:
