Walker to announce endorsement ‘formal decision’

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will announce his “formal decision” in the GOP presidential race on Tuesday.

A statement from Friends of Scott Walker said the governor plans to make his thoughts about the 2016 race public on 620 WTMJ in Wisconsin shortly after 10 a.m. EDT.

Walker has previously hinted at endorsing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president, and the governor indicated that he thought Cruz was the only candidate who could defeat Donald Trump in the primary.

When Walker dropped out of the presidential race last year, he encouraged other Republican candidates to do so as well in order to consolidate support against Trump. The governor’s announcement comes with fewer than four months remaining until the convention and one week before the Wisconsin primary on April 5.
