U.Md., Hopkins earn women?s lax tourney bids

The University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins are the state?s only representatives in this year?s 16-team NCAA Division I women?s lacrosse tournament.

Maryland (15-3) earned a fifth seed and will host Yale (13-3) in the opening round. The host-Terps are participating in their 18th consecutive tournament.

No. 7 Johns Hopkins (11-7) will host Hofstra (12-6) in its opening round game. Both Hopkins and Maryland will play their first round games on Sunday.

The quarterfinals will take place May 19 with the national semifinals and finals set for May 25 and 27 respectively at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

Holy Cross (13-5) at No. 1 Northwestern

Syracuse (12-5) at No. 8 Vanderbilt

Yale at No. 5 Maryland (15-3)

Boston University (13-5) at No. 4 Penn (14-1)

Princeton (10-6) at No. 3 Virginia (16-3)

Richmond (14-5) at No. 6 North Carolina

Hofstra (12-6) at No. 7 Johns Hopkins (11-7)
