If you’ve been waiting for a chance to try your hand at Virginia fishing but don’t want to flip the bill for a license, you may be in luck. The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will hold its annual free fishing weekend Friday through June 3. Fresh and saltwater anglers will be allowed to fish the state’s waterways without a license. “We’re all about getting folks out away from the computers,” DGIF spokesman Lee Walker said. “Hopefully they’ll like it enough to turn around and end up buying a license down the road.” — Jacob Demmit
