Newt, McCain clash over candidacy comment

Blogger Meghan McCain may have ruffled a few feathers in the GOP this week, when she talked a little trash about Newt Gingrich‘s candidacy. Appearing on the Don Imus show Tuesday morning, Meghan said she thought Texas Gov. Rick Perry was unqualified for the presidency and “wasting everyone’s time.” She then invoked the former house speaker by adding, “It’s the same thing I think about Newt Gingrich. I think you’re wasting everyone’s time. This is obviously some sort of vanity project, and I don’t think running for president should be a vanity project.” Newt doesn’t seem too ruffled, though. “How would she have a clue? I mean, everybody’s allowed to have opinions, but I’ve just spent the last nine days on the road,” Gingrich told the Daily Caller on Wednesday, going on to note his recent upswing in the polls. “I’m exactly where her father was — in third place at this point in 2007,” he added.
