Barack Obama tried to bat down the reports of a spat with Bill Clinton over what the former president should speak about when he takes the podium tomorrow. Talking to reporters Monday in Moline, Ill., Obama said he had given Clinton carte blanche when they talked last week. “I said, ‘Mr. President you can say whatever you like.’ Bill Clinton is a unique figure in our politics. … It wouldn’t make sense to me to try and edit his remarks.”
