Secret message in White House website’s source code seeks technologists

The Biden administration is using coded language in its search for new employees via its official government website.

Viewing the White House website’s source code reveals a hidden message appealing to the reader to consider applying for a government job.

“If you’re reading this, we need your help building back better,” reads a note in the code, linking to the United States Digital Service’s job application page.

Founded in 2014, the USDS seeks “to deliver better government services to the American people through technology and design.” The technology unit aims to modernize the government’s digital processes and provides consultation to other federal agencies on technological matters.

The USDS shared a tweet one hour into the new Biden administration inviting prospective applicants to consider working for the government body.

“We are a startup at the White House working to deliver better government services to the American people through technology and design,” the tweet said. “Let’s help millions of people together.”

Representatives for the USDS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
