President Trump is set to meet with Republican congressional leaders on Tuesday as the White House prepares to push an infrastructure package through Congress.
Trump and lawmakers will discuss “the ongoing legislative agenda” during their meeting at the White House, a GOP aide told the Washington Examiner.
The meeting comes as healthcare talks in the Senate face delays and tax reform discussions struggle to gain momentum on Capitol Hill. White House officials announced Monday that they “absolutely” expect an infrastructure package to make its way through Congress before the end of the year, placing more pressure on Republican lawmakers to act quickly on the administration’s legislative agenda.
The upcoming meeting was first reported by Politico. Likely guests include House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the meeting.
