P.G.’s Baker giving State of Economy address

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker will deliver the county’s State of the Economy Address on Tuesday, a spokesman said.

The county is facing a $77 million budget shortfall. Baker recently proposed a $2.6 billion spending plan that includes across-the-board cuts to most agencies.

The county executive is expected to speak about his proposed $50 million economic development investment that would set up a fund to provide loans and assistance to encourage commercial businesses to locate to Prince George’s County.

The event, sponsored by the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled to take place at the University of Maryland in College Park.
